Most of us experience stress and anxiety at times. While this may be occasional for some, others are in a continual state of feeling stressed and/or anxious. There are a wide range of mental and physical symptoms that may be experienced, it affects everyone differently. If you are often stressed/anxious, having massage is usually helpful in a number of ways, as it promotes both physical and mental relaxation. Hot stones

The feelings of comfort and warmth that the stones give can help to promote physical and mental relaxation. They enhance the effect massage has on activation of the parasympathetic nervous system and release of “feel good” hormones. The warmth also improves blood supply to muscles which helps them to relax.

Aromatherapy oils

Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils  from plants to benefit health and well being.  Essential oils have various health benefits, depending on which plant they come from. Many essential oils have properties that help to induce feelings of calm and relaxation. A blend of relaxing oils will be used in the massage oil as well as in a diffuser in the room.

Relaxing music

Music helps with relaxation by lowering your heart rate and cortisol levels, promoting the release of “feel good” hormones and helping you to switch off and allow your mind and body to relax.

How often should you have the massage for stress & anxiety treatment?

How often you should have the treatment depends on a number of factors, including how severe your stress and anxiety are, what your triggers are and what other coping strategies you have. Monthly massage works well for most clients, but some prefer to come weekly or fortnightly.
